Bariatric Mobility: Where to Find It

The category names themselves might sound fairly generic, but the HCPCS list of codes is actually very precise in defining standard mobility products and those designed and built for higher weight capacities:

Standard: Weight capacity up to and including 300 lbs.
Heavy Duty: From 301 through 450 lbs.
Very Heavy Duty: From 451 through 600 lbs.
Extra Heavy Duty: 601 lbs. and up

So why is this story called “Bariatrics in Plain Sight”? Because many wheelchair manufacturers offer product in weight categories classified as bariatric. And throughout this story, you’ll find “cheat sheet” notes of current offerings in various bariatric categories. We list weight capacities and contact information.

Don’t see what you’re looking for here? Or do you have a client who has unique specifications and requirements? The beauty of the complex rehab technology segment is that manufacturers are well accustomed to creating one-of-a-kind seating & mobility products with unique specifications or beyond-the-standard sizing. So just because it’s not in their official catalogs or on their standard order forms doesn’t automatically mean your request is impossible.
