The National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) has named its new CEO.
In a May 31 announcement, NMEDA said it has hired Toby Cummings to fill the position, as current CEO Danny Langfield prepares to become Executive Director of the Auto Mobility Research & Education Foundation (AMREF). The non-profit foundation is NMEDA’s charitable subsidiary.
Cummings’s most recent position was Executive Director of the International Municipal Signal Association, which is the certifying body for public safety professionals.
In the announcement, Chad Blake, NMEDA’s Past President and co-chair of the organization’s CEO search committee, said, “Toby Cummings is an exceptional leader with a deep understanding of association management and a genuine commitment to advancing the mission of NMEDA. His extensive association experience and proven leadership skills make him the ideal choice to lead our organization into the future. We are confident that Toby will build upon our strong foundation and further enhance NMEDA's position as the leading voice in the auto mobility industry.”
Cummings’s responsibilities will include “executing the association's strategic plan, enhancing member services, fostering industry collaboration, and advocating for the needs of people with disabilities who rely on auto adaptive equipment,” the announcement said. “He will work closely with the NMEDA Board of Directors and staff to drive innovation, growth, and increased member engagement.”
In the announcement, Cummings said, “I am honored and excited to join NMEDA as CEO. NMEDA has a long-standing reputation for excellence and has played a vital role in improving the lives of individuals with disabilities. I look forward to working closely with the NMEDA staff and our volunteer leaders to continue advancing the organization's mission and serving our community with the highest level of dedication and commitment.”
Langfield takes over as AMREF’s leader on July 1. Cummings’s first day as NMEDA’s CEO is July 10.
